Munson Creek Falls September 8, 2014
A short, easy and quick little escape for those traveling Hwy 101. Munson Creek Falls, located just outside of Tillamook, Oregon
Named the second largest waterfall in the state at 319′ high, this is the tallest waterfall int he Oregon Coast Range. It might be a bit more impressive in the spring when there is more water flowing and we weren’t able to get as close as we’d liked since the trails was blocked by a fallen tree.
At 62-acres Munson Creek Falls State Natural Site is one of Oregon’s newest state parks and has been open to visitors since 2000.
The trail heads up along Munson Creek, you will see salmonberry and elderberry, big-leaf maple, western hemlock, western red-cedar, red alder and Sitka spruce. During spring and summer wildflowers, including trillium, corydalis, and violets bloom. The falls tumble in at least three tiers and are 319’ high, supposedly the tallest waterfall in the Oregon Coast Range.
Trail is easy and well maintained. Just over a half mile and open year round.
