After an attempted murder-suicide, a young woman must return to the polygamist community she escaped to make life and death decisions for her parents and the future of her autistic brother.

Synopsis:

Birdie is a woman who, after escaping forced child marriage, has made a successful life for herself. She receives news that her father has shot her mother and then himself. Out of concern for her autistic brother, she returns with her girlfriend to the home and family she fled.

She discovers that as the legal next of kin she must make the decision to turn off the life support of both her parents against the wishes of one of her father’s other wives. She must face Gideon, the man she was forced to marry and who after her escape was charged and jailed. She discovers her mother was also having an affair with him and that he is the biological father of her autistic brother. Her estranged sister, Hannah has also returned after hearing the news but hasn’t been able to move on to a successful life and blames Birdie for her problems with drug addiction.

Birdie must make the difficult decision to leave her brother in the only home he knows and with his legal father. Not all is lost when Birdie’s half-sister Ivy leaves with her to start a new life away from the abuse she has endured.

A story of secrets, life, death, and love.
