A 12-week journey through The Artist’s Way, facilitated by Dawn Sellers
What is The Creative Reawakening?
A 12-week group course that works through Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, one chapter per week, guided by Dawn Sellers. Alongside Cameron’s book, you’ll use Dawn’s original companion workbook, The Creative Reawakening, which adds weekly reflections, practical exercises, and space to plan your own small creative steps.
When and where does the class meet?
Mondays, January 4 – March 22, 2027, 6:30-8:30pm. The first Monday of each month meets in person at Hollywood in Hillsboro and on Zoom at the same time (hybrid). The remaining Mondays are live on Zoom only.
I don’t think of myself as an artist. Is this for me?
Yes. “Artist” is used in the broadest sense, anyone who wants to reconnect with curiosity and a creative practice, whether that’s writing, painting, music, performance, or simply living with more imagination and intention. No experience, portfolio, or project is required.
What will we actually do each week?
Read one chapter of The Artist’s Way, keep up the program’s core tools; morning pages (three pages of longhand, stream-of-consciousness writing, kept private in your own journal) and a weekly artist date (a solo outing that feeds your curiosity), and work through that week’s workbook reflections and one small, realistic “make it real” step. Sessions include discussion, gentle exercises, and encouragement.
What book do I need, and where do I get it?
You’ll need your own copy of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, in whatever format suits you. It is available in paperback, Kindle, or audiobook. Bring one you already own, or arrange to buy a paperback copy at the first class for $15. Dawn’s companion workbook, The Creative Reawakening, is included in your tuition; if you’re joining online only, the companion workbook is mailed to you (free shipping when you pay in full).
What if I have to miss a class?
Life happens, and missing a session or two is normal. Dawn asks that you not miss more than a couple of sessions. Working in a supportive community is an important part of this journey. Every Zoom session is recorded though, and the recording is made available if you miss a class, so you can catch up and stay connected to the group.
Do I have to share my writing or my work?
No. Morning pages are always private, and nobody is required to share personal writing, history, or unfinished work. You’re welcome to share a discovery without sharing the details behind it.
How big is the class?
There’s no fixed cap, the hybrid format, with monthly in-person sessions in Hillsboro and every session on Zoom, means the group can welcome both local and online participants.
How much does it cost, and how do I register?
Tuition is $395, which includes Dawn’s companion workbook. Reserve your place with a $75 nonrefundable deposit, with the balance due December 20, 2026. If you pay in full when you register for $350 (nonrefundable) you’ll save $45. To register, simply send an email to Dawn – dawnmariesellers@gmail.com or reach out on social media.
Can I work with Dawn individually?
Private coaching with Dawn is available separately for an hourly rate, just ask. It isn’t part of the course tuition but you are welcome to schedule 1:1 time in between group classes or anytime before or after the course.
What is your cancellation / refund policy?
Payments made are nonrefundable including the deposit or pay in full. You may cancel your participation prior to the start of the course and use the amount paid towards tuition next time the course is offered.
Is this therapy?
No. The Creative Reawakening is educational and reflective. It’s a supportive creative course, not therapy or a substitute for mental health care.
