Cape Lookout State Park – September 22, 2014
Cape Lookout State Park
5.2 Miles
A popular moderate hike with some great viewpoints. While the trail can be well traveled and muddy or slippery this is a must do hike on the North Oregon Coast. Nearby campgrounds and RV parks can be busy year round so if your trip includes a planned overnight be sure to make a reservation. If you plan to hike with children or pets beware – this trails has steep cliffs without a rail.
This hike really provides the best views on the coast, from weaving through old growth timber to panoramic views atop the 400 ft cliff’s edge, many of the best pictures you see from the Oregon Coast are from this trail.
If the weather is nice take a break at the top where you will find a bench to sit and have a picnic. Just be ready to share some crumbs with the local wildlife you’ll see scampering around in the shrubs.
